1) My final thesis, titled Migration, Enforcement and Trashing the Desert: Discourses on Social Nature from Arizona Border Activists, based on ethnographic and interview-based research conducted in June/July 2012 and January 2013 in the greater Tucson area.
2) My final research paper for a spring 2012 Environmental Communication class, Rhetorical Construction of Ecoterrorism, discusses how the label of “ecoterrrorism” has been created and used to refer to environmentally-motivated property destruction.
3) My final research paper from my study abroad program in Ecuador, Mining and Democracy in Intag, Ecuador, discusses my experiences reporting on mining conflicts for a rural Ecuadorian newspaper called Periodico Intag. The English version includes footnotes with personal commentary to provide more context to readers who might be unfamiliar with Ecuadoran politics, and to include some of my own opinions in the report. I’ve also posted my original Spanish paper, Periodismo, democracia popular y el conflicto minero. Both papers include an index of my articles written for the paper.
